Bio
Born Maron Estephan Ashkar in Ghana to a Lebanese dad and a Ghanaian mum, I got involved with music at an early age. I joined the local church choir at the age of six. I loved reggae so much that I would always play the numerous Wailers tape collections that my mum had. At age eight, I made my own guitar out of an oil can with copper wires for strings. Finishing high school in 1987, I enrolled at Opoku Ware Secondary where I joined the school choir and went on to become the leader in my final year. Although a science student, I would always sneak into the music room after classes to play the piano, for which I got punished every time the music tutor caught me. On the 2nd of January, 1991, I wrote my first reggae track (Too Old), which my friends liked and encouraged me to carry on writing more. I have never stopped since then. Now I don't just write songs but produce my own beats and record my songs myself. Although< I haven't performed any gigs here in the U.K yet, I look forward to any invitations to do so. I'm also looking forward to signing on to any interested record labels. Jah bless.
